Winter Wonderland Honey & Almond Sugar Scrub

Winter Wonderland Scrub 1

Hello beauty lovers!

It’s the most wonderful time of year! A time of mistletoe, sugar cookies every damn day, and a blanket of snow on your way to work. I LIVE FOR CHRISTMAS!

What I don’t live for are the dry patches of skin I get. Gross, no thank you. Luckily there’s a quick DIY and totally organic solution to those dry patches we get: a sugar scrub! And BONUS it’s totally inexpensive and you probably already own the ingredients to make it!

What you’ll need:

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup almond oil
  • 1 spoonful of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of almond extract
  • 5 drops of vanilla essential oil (optional)

As always, I like to talk about why each ingredient is important. For starters it’s EXTREMELY important to exfoliate in the drier seasons. You can do this with either sugar scrubs or salt scrubs, but I usually prefer sugar because it’s more hydrating and a little more gentle.

Sugar itself is a natural humectant, which means it not only buffs away the dead skin cells on our top layer of skin, it also helps draw in moisture from the air and locks it into our epidermis.

Almond oil is very soothing and when used in the shower this hydrating oil seeps into pores to add a lasting hydration to dry and damaged skin.

Honey is another all natural way to add moisture as well as shine. It also just smells great!

I used almond extract as a natural way to add a yummy smell and the vanilla essential oil can also add a nice fragrance to this scrub.

Go ahead and combine all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir well. When you’re done, toss it in an airtight container and you’re done!

The shelf life is about 4 months. I doubled my batch to fill my container.

Merry Christmas beauty lovers!
